This work depicts Marie Corelli's fantastical vision of the Devil racing across the night sky in a blazing, winged motor car above London. Illuminated by fiery light and sweeping through storm clouds, the dramatic scene reflects early 20th century anxieties about speed, technology, and the destructive temptations of modernity.
