Three Worlds (1955) by M.C. Escher (Dutch, 1898–1972) is a masterful woodcut exploring three layers of reality: the floating autumn leaves on the water's surface, the reflections of the trees above, and the fish swimming beneath. Through this striking composition, Escher transforms an ordinary pond into a thought-provoking meditation on perception, depth, and the hidden worlds that coexist in a single moment.
